This year, we are again grateful to have been shortlisted in the most prestigious and comprehensive rewards program in the global tourism industry. Amidst all the uncertainties, getting a nomination from the World Travel Awards gives the best possible hope – a good start to rock a potentially amazing year for tourism.

The World Travel Awards has been around since 1993, recognizing excellence in the travel industry across the globe. It is well participated by tourism regions including Europe, Central America, South America, Caribbean, North America, Africa, Indian Ocean, Oceania, Middle East and Asia. It holds an annual event that solidifies the entire tourism industry.

Certainly, the 28th World Travel Awards is a good reminder that tourism has not totally disappeared. 2020 may have been the most inconsistent year for tourism, but we remain hopeful that this too shall pass. And, may the good news from the World Tourism Award foster new opportunities and a fresh start.

Last Year’s Big Wins for the Philippines: 27th World Travel Awards

Winners of last year’s 27th World Travel Awards were named at a virtual ceremony held in Moscow, Russia. Among the proud winners is, of course, our beautiful country – the Philippines. Here are the World Travel Awards that we got in 2020:

May we replicate last year’s big wins or perhaps take home more awards this 2021. 🙂

DOT and the World Travel Awards

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expressed her joy about this year’s nominations. Furthermore, she encourages everyone’s support for Philippine tourism by voting for the 2021 World Travel Awards.

“On behalf of the DOT, I am enjoining the support of our industry stakeholders, and Filipino and foreign travelers to support the Philippines in the 2021 WTA. By casting our votes, we can show that the Philippine tourism industry is alive and even more determined to bounce back, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

DOT Secretary Puyat: “In addition to our efforts to expand the source markets for the Philippines and prepare for the eventual relaxation of our travel restrictions, we also put equal importance in maintaining the country’s image as a top-of-mind destination among international travelers through the help of notable industry platforms such as the WTA.”  |  Source: DOT
